From her childhood days in East Tennessee, Amanda Shea Peters was always interested in beauty products. Growing up, she was known to dash makeup on her Mother, Grandmother or any unfortunate male that sat still too long.
Upon entering college, Amanda was asked to compete for the title of Miss Tennessee USA. After several attempts, she was named 1st Runner-Up and Interview Award winner for 2003. “During my preparation for Miss TN USA, I learned a tremendous amount about myself.” Through her training, she learned how to take care of her inner and outer self. “I learned from experts in wardrobe, skincare, hair care, fitness and interview techniques on how to be the best I could be. The lessons I learned were invaluable and I continue to utilize them in my everyday life. Even though I didn’t win the title, I walked away with so many opportunities, lessons learned and the fulfillment of a childhood dream.”
A graduate of Carson-Newman College with a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction, Amanda has made a successful career in education. From teaching fourth graders a new concept to selling educational products to the educators, Amanda has made her professional life around the education arena. “I love to teach. Teaching is who I am!”
Growing up around family businesses and witnessing the entrepreneurial spirit, Amanda’s desire to own her own business was fostered early. She decided to combine her two passions; teaching and beauty products. “I am a product junkie and an enthusiastic supporter of all things spa. I love to teach people about new products and how to recreate the spa experience at home.”
In the winter of 2006, Amanda decided to create fun holiday scrubs and bath salts for her family and friends. After the holidays, with friends and family ordering more products, she realized she had a business. And thus Shea & Company was born.
From pageant contender to motivated educator and now enthusiastic entrepreneur, Amanda has stayed true to her vision of building Shea & Company from her passions. Her motto is to bring natural, healthy, luxury-filled bath products to women and their families while teaching them how to feel beautiful and confident from the inside out without a prohibited price tag.
Amanda and her husband, Bill, make their home in Austin, Texas with their two-year old yellow Lab, Whitlee.
